I took my 92 year old Mum (who is thankfully more like 72) to see this. We have never seen Cats stage version although of course we know the music and have seen excerpts. We LOVED this film and found it so entertaining and funny! I have read the reviews which are so harsh. I liked the cat costumes, didn’t find it too sexual and the singing was brilliant. We thought the actors were well cast and it was a surprise to see Ray Winston who was good!
We laughed at the mice, the cockroach dancing etc and the scenery was very clever. My Mum told me about the poor reviews as we we walking in but we kept an open mind and when we walked out she thought they were unfounded as we really enjoyed this film.
I had recorded Cats with Elaine Page from Sky TV so watched that when I got home and I have to say I liked the film better for its versatility, visual impact, dancing and fluid movements, costumes, ear and tail twitching, and comedy.
Finally, dont give up on this refreshingly different film.
