I loved seeing it for the first time on Decades TV, shown as 'Binge Watching' for two solid days, Feb. 6th & 7th, 2021. Obviously, I had to take time out to eat, feed my own cats, and take care of personal demands. I didn't get much sleep, other than when I was unable to stay awake in my lounger chair. It was a welcome respite from the usual droll weekend fare, especially after suffering through 18" snow nor'easter that hit my area 1/31 to 2/2/2021. My only gripe was that 'Cat' never had his own name. (As a ginger, it was safe to assume that 'Cat' was a 'he.') I was happy that in the close-to-the-end run of the series that a woman actually picked up 'Cat' and showed him some affection, which he didn't mind one bit. I wish that the entire four-year series could be brought back as reruns on Decade as a designated show on a par with the human comedy reruns.

I have watched it many times and still love it for the powerful emotions and interactions of the fine principals: Grace Kelly, William Holden and Bing Crosby. A recent review published in Parade by a Gen X type, who obviously knew nothing, stated that it was a forgettable movie. Chalk up that kind of disparagement to someone who never watched it and thus could catch nothing of the underlying tensions between two powerful personalities who each had their own agenda for shepherding the comeback of a stage actor who carried the self-imposed guilt of losing his son to a tragic accident. This underrated movie is well worth watching.
