[Maps] While its not perfect the maps are well designed, even some of the smaller maps can still be enjoyed.
[Characters] I like the characters and they make the game feel more enjoyable and add a story to the game. (to bad they dont got Chris prat)
[Dinosaurs] This is where the game lacks because while there's alot of good looking dinosaurs, the herbivores either get one shot by carnivores, or are weak in fights compared to the carnivores, who are absolutely the one thing you should have.
Its also easy to abuse the fact that small carnivores cant be hurt by medium OR large carnivores which cant hurt sauropods, and just make 4 Pens to boost your rating using this tactic. very easy to cheese it
[Environment & Editing] I like all the foliage brushes and combined some of them can look fantastic, but there's only one tree brush. You also can add or remove water but adding water creates circular puddles so I would advise you remove a bit of these puddles to make it more interesting and not look like a circular puddle.
Terrain editing is alright but you cant make massive mountains, though that may be for the better. You also have overall 5 Terrain paints, 4 in sandbox, and 3-4 in challenge mode and campaign mode. This means you cant have all 5 Paints in a park, which is a bit let down. The only way is through mods, which we will get to later.
[Game Modes] The campaign mode is simple and is the definition of a long tutorial. It allows you to also get all the dinosaurs and items without DLC's adding anything extra. Challenge mode is like campaign mode but you get taxed, disasters may be more or less common, and you unlock skins. Also you get nothing at the start.
Alot of people compare it to the games predecessor, JP: Operation Genesis, and rightfully so. They are basically the same things but without the taxing and challenge difficulty's. Sandbox is our last mode and something JP: Operation Genesis didn't have, and it basically allows you to make your own park with barely any limits.
[Updates] While the game at launch was bare bones, over time its become much more valuable and fun to play, and so you may see reviews getting gradually better and better, or may vary depending on what version they were made in.
[DLC's] All the DLC's are good, though some are better than others. I Especially like the Herbivore pack as it adds the last two JPOG Dinosaurs into the game, as well as a unique African sauropod.
[Mods] While free updates and DLC's can improve a game, its life support seems to have ended, and its Insurance seems to have stopped as well. This Insurance is the modding community, and while no new mods are being made, you can still download the good ones and use them in your parks. Heres some good ones I use alot.
[Final Rating] Probably would be a 7/10 Without mods, 8/10 With mods.
