Binged watched the entire season before work - this should explain how much I enjoyed it and look forward to a second season. Also a great way to "celebrate" Philippine Independence Day as this anime highlights the imagination of Filipinos.
Being of Filipino heritage, it was amazing to visualize the aswangs and mythical creatures that I was told of once (or twice) before bedtime. I have began revisiting these folklores knowing how they are part of what shapes the Filipino culture. I look forward to sharing them with my daughter, who is not a "tiyanak", but 13 months old and ironically... "trese" translates to thirteen (cue X-Files theme song)
If John Constantine, a strong Filipina character (minus the hyper-sexualizing trope), and stories of "things that go bump in the night is your thing", grab the correct strands of hair from the nearest tikbalang and go watch this anime.
