From a plot standpoint, one of the worst movies I’ve ever seen. You get 4.5 great performances (including wardrobe), but ultimately the story is a complete mess. Oh, and it’s supposed to be a comedy? Wouldn’t know it.
It starts strong but plot points are simply abandoned, not even dismissed with composition. The audience is demanded to suspend reality in such a way it becomes incredibly distracting. “I Care a Lot” IS successful at lazy-writing trope bingo; It hits all of them.
The movie wants to be all the things. Drama, comedy (lol), thriller. Socially conscious, socially progressive. But any good editor reels those ideas in for the audience’s sake. Not so much here. It’s unfortunate.
