I would give 5 stars to season 1 and S3 on a stand alone basis. Even though the last episode of S1 ends on a messy note especially with regards to Byod and Sara I was hopeful that I would find answers to all mysteries one by one in S2. S1 is an easy and thrilling watch and keeps one on the edge of the seat.
But each episode of S2 keeps adding mysteries and suspense. Endless mysteries, premonitions, visions, confusions leads you nowhere. At one point, when in S2 E6 Byod sees a vision of music box playing along with a live girl making him dance to her steps before showing her monstrous look(actually Byod will be with Kenny and his mom at the diner) I decided "enough is enough, I can't take these suspenses anymore".
Endless suspense is not a good thing nor thrilling, it will only make one go nuts.
Also few characters get so irritating at times in S2. They hesitate to communicate without having any justification to do so. For example Boyd hesitates to talk about his experience in the woods. His justification is that his explanation makes no logic. Sara hesitates to speak about her helpless condition even during interrogations citing lack of logic.
When the whole series is illogical, fictional I don't understand why the question of logic should arise.
Some characters which are interesting st the beginning gets utterly boring in later stages especially in S2.
Endless and unnecessary visits by the characters to the same old diner, church, clinic drags the show.
But again S3 adds a lot of freshness to the show. Things get too interesting and makes one hurry through episodes(I watched them all at once back to back) to get answers. A lot of mysteries get answered now and makes one to crave for S4.
Direction, performance, screenplay technical aspects all deserve a full 5 star.
