I grew up a massive fan of both He-Man and She-Ra. Watching the new series, while beautiful Art, stunning colours and great voice acting, I have to admit, the amount of scenes 'based on' other movies/shows/games annoyed me. Where is the originality? For the most part, SPOILERS, when the team are in Subternia and Evil-Lyn opens the gateway to Preternia, is a massive rip-off of the Lord of the Rings scene, tentacles and glowing glyphs to open a stone wall. Not to mention whilst in Preternia, the Aladdin Cave of Wonders tower. I also have to mention that Evil-Lyn with her design is just Frosta from She-Ra. What the? And Orco's world is just Etheria from She-Ra again. And the crystal island before entering Subternia, a direct copy of the crystal desert in the game, Trials of Mana. Watching the series, all I see is a grown man's fantasy of portraying his favourite characters as the protagonists. Teela, Evil-Lyn, Man at Arms. I didn't enjoy the snide comments about Adam/He-Man being 'too nice' or a glorified hero? Why? Why be negative? If it was trying to be funny, it really wasn't. Corny dialogue in some scenes which really don't match the 'darker, edgy' tone of this series. Cringe. Leave the 80s shows alone. I miss the fun, light-hearted original where corny dialogue worked. It had better episodes and it was based on selling toys. This is saying something about the linear script-writing of Revelations. Trying to give the characters more 'depth' whilst falling flat on its face with its cliche story-telling. Here's a thought, perhaps create a new show without trying to make a sequel for the original. Oh wait, the imagination for these 'creators' just isn't there.
