It’s impossible not to compare this to the movie version. It’s a pale watered down version, which lacks the charm and beauty of Julie Andrews Maria, and in particular the portrayal of Leisel, whom in this version comes across as grumpy and grim. Carrie Underwood at times seems to actually try, but disastrously fails to render the melodic qualities of songs, supported by what seems like dazed and confused children.
