It just doesn't feel like trek. If you remove the star trek branding, the resemblance to certain ship designs or the names of people and places, I doubt anyone would ever make the connection that this was supposed to be star trek.
At it's heart, star trek is people sitting in rooms having deep and meaningful conversations. This series trades this approach in for run and gun action and over the top visuals.
