Watchable performance from Tobin Bell and a reasonable first 20 minutes..
Based on the poster and the first few weeks of reviews I was expecting a classy grown up version of Saw, and hoped it would revive the standards and simplicity of the original movie.. Alas, a missed opportunity.. sadly I was distracted by:
Regular “improbable possibilities”, questionable behaviours / blocking, blindingly obvious green screen, hokey and totally unnecessary coloured lighting, a wobbly, rubber prosthetic corpse .. and inexplicably grandiose ‘traps’ especially the last few.
Lots of atrocious acting, but somewhat understandable - so much coverage the actors must have been freaking exhausted.
They also seemed to be covering some bad film making ‘tracks’ with several editing techniques.. or intentional and just tastelessly unnecessary.
If you don’t care about story ..or distractingly flawed film making .. and you’d like to spend money on being stressed and uncomfortable… go for it!!! : )
Or watch the original agin, far better film cleverly made for a fraction of the price.
