Lia Melendez

I was excited to see this but disappointed this was not a mini series! The book had so much detail and backstory about the Marsten House and the man that lived there. It felt rushed and at times I was trying to see what characters were who. The original, in my opinion was better than this remake. I wished it gave more of a creep factor and stuck with the book material. It left little character development and the showdown between Ben and Barlowe was weak. Some stories should just be left alone. It is not bad but not great.

The previews were the most exciting situations in the movie. There were times it dragged and unnecessary moments were dragged out and too many plot holes. There is a cameo by Linda Blair but it is so minor it hardly makes an impact. The story had great premise but fell through with lack luster effects. I heard the director is working on two more sequels but after this disappointment, I am not certain of seeing any more movies. This movie overall was disappointing.

It grabs you in the beginning and perfectly starts to unravel the story. There also is more to the story of you pay attention with why the monster comes for them. The characters are perfect for their roles. The PG-13 rating is hanging on a thread. The scare and creep factor is still present. I would say if you have a young teen this would be a perfect spooky movie to see. I took my two teens to start of summer break and they loved it! I enjoyed it as well. My suggestion is to not watch trailers. They reveal too much. It is the perfect kick off to summertime! The whole theater was on the edge of their seats!

Overall, better movie than the predecessors. However, wished they had a better storyline for Outworld. The plot seemed all over the place. The fatalities were present. I hope with a possibility of other films, they put the plot together a little better. Also how can they director say, "I wasn't trying to get into a sequel," then completely leave out popular character Johnny Cage? There is a surprise at the end. Hope That is not just a tease. Test your might!
