Better than its predecessor!!!!!!!

A sweet film and I thought the Mexican actors were terrific. And at 91, you have to give Clint Eastwood credit. Still..... yes, he was far too old for the role. For a man who seemed barely to make it from chair to door, bustin' wild broncos was beyond MACHO. It was unbelievable.

Stop after season 1. Season 2 becomes a wandering mess.

Enjoyable and extremely insightful regarding the restaurant business... but perhaps more so regarding a perfectionist in an imperfect world.

Gosh, from what I've seen of Season 7 it's a mess. Not just the acting or Jane Fonda's new and worrisome 'fragility,' but the writing is simply awful... one misfired one-liner after another. 7 does no justice to the earlier seasons. Skip it. Also, while Sam Waterston can be a good actor, his decision here, doubled down on in Season 7, to play a gay man by speaking half an octave higher and flitting about, is kind of insulting.

There is so much that is good here. But the death of van Hall is DRAGGED OUT over the last half hour or more of the movie. If you know history, you know he is executed by the Nazis. But why must we SO PAINFULLY be made to feel every nanosecond of this, from what led up to him being captured, to the capture itself and the effect on his family, and then to his torture and ultimate demise. All sort of in slow motion. For me as a viewer, it was WAY too much. I don't think that much sadness over that long a time is what movie watchers want to see, experience. At end, I felt as tortured as van Hall.

Nothing new or very entertaining here.

Armie Hammer was quite good and Kristin Scott Thomas even better. The problem with this re-imagining is Lily James, whose idea of not fitting in is to contort herself and bump into things. Not only does she not have a presence in the film, she’s rather ridiculous. I didn’t love the original, but Joan Fontaine leaves Lily behind in the dust!

So disappointing. The acting and production were wonderful, but from the opening scene the movie is plotted to set up horrible, sad situations that, frankly, I can't believe anyone much wants to watch.

Season one was clever and so different. But season two quickly began to trip over itself. Characters showed up in odd places, acted is strange ways, and the storyline became so convoluted that it was HARD TO FOLLOW. And, even then, the payoff was weak. Whereas the writing in season one was thought-provoking, in season two it was didactic, preachy. What happened? No season three, please.
