it almost does not matter what the book is about. it's written masterfully. the reviewers who couldn't get through it; the book wasn't for you. does not make the book bad. you were maybe looking for something that book was never meant for.
it is not an adventure book. it is the author's wrestling with the many questions of man (and beast), his prose, his many poetic attempts.
it's masterful writing. as if he is constantly afraid of falling into heaven's mouth, and in detail describing the journey of the fall on the way.
find a different book if you are after adventure. and if you are after very good literature, give the first 50 pages a go.
