I agree with Hemlata Singh. ‘Nimki Mukhiya’ TV serial is indeed the most stinking serial ever telecast. Its stink has further stenchified with vulgarity, shamelessness, cruelty, gruesomeness, and obscenity on part of all characters, and further exercise of extra-jurisdiction powers of the Mukhiya under the Bihar Panchayati Raj Act (the production team apparently does not have a competent socio-politico-legal research team; otherwise, the blunder of dealing with a divorce case by the village Panchayat would not have been repeated. In any case, where is the Sarpanch? Minor judiciary powers to undertake cases of willing disputing parties are there with the Sarpanch and not with the Mukhiya). But the most rotting contributor is the carcass of the re-entered BDO Abhimanyu Rai. He should have been cashiered (unceremoniously sacked and dismissed from service) for his disgraceful conducts (firstly, for morphing video clips with an intent to defraud as an election officer, and secondly, for abducting and eloping with a woman of his block while holding the post of the BDO), and other vices like corruption, partisanship, and of course, womanization. It is noteworthy that the responsibility for the tragically failed marriage of Nimki and Babbu lays 30% with Anaro Devi, 25% with Nimki, 25% with BDO Abhimanyu Rai, 10% with Sweety, 5% with Babbu and 5% with others. One wonders, don’t we have better officers than Abhimanyu Rai and Shankar Jha to discharge the functions of a BDO uprightly and impartially? Men and Women are inseparable part of a family/society. There can be no women empowerment without the concomitant empowerment of men. It is especially true for husband-wife relationship (Remember Nimki’s advice to a housewife: “husband is like lottery ticket, keep it if it is useful, else, tear and throw it”. If a man gives a similar advice to any other husband about the latter’s wife, where will the institution of marriage go?). I bemoan that what (this serial with an initial wonderful story line) could have been developed into one of the best serials on women empowerment with the right proportions of entertainment, drama, wedded love and ‘mani-kanchan’ combination of inter-cast and inter-class marriage inspiring one and all, turned into a horrifying ordeal that is trying to divide everything of the society: upper cast-lower cast, men-women, husband-wife, and whatever little left we have of our age-old cherished family and social values. I am an active member of many women organizations working for women empowerment, and I can vouch that what the serial is doing is not women empowerment. The serial’s telecast must be stopped because it is really stinking. There can never be a convincing end to such stories. Is raat ki koi subah nahi. May I quote, “Jis afsane ko anjaam tak le jana na ho mumkin, use ek khubsurat mod par hai chhodna behter”, and may I caution you that ’khubsurat mod’ would never mean a marriage between Nimki/Sweety and that Rogue BDO Abhimanyu Rai because that would be the most horrific moral of the story. Finally, please wind-up and close the serial.
