Semi spoiler ish --- A Stranger in the House had so much potential to be a flawless and amazing book! It was interesting, the plot was initially strong, and the writing was amazing. The main character Karen, as stated in the synopsis, is painted as an innocent housewife and a former battered woman who gets caught up in a very dicey situation when she develops amnesia from a car accident she gets into. This lands her in a back and forth with the police who seem to have it out for her. Later in the book it is revealed that everything the author led you to believe was untrue and the last ten pages basically expose Karen to be a liar and a master manipulator. This would be perfectly fine if the reader wasn't inside of Karen's head for almost the entirety of the book! So, the final twist was not even a proper twist since that plot wasn't even fully formed... Couldn't the reader have known longer than 10 pages that this woman was an absolute fraud and been in on her shenanigans a little earlier?! ... There was no big payoff, no justice, and it was kind of a waste of time... There was definitely a better way to tell this story!
