I've been a Star Trek fan my entire life. I've watched every series, every episode and every movie.
Spoiler alert and I rate alert.
I don't understand why the reviews are so negative.
I enjoyed this movie from start to finish.
Was it your typical Star Trek movie? Of course not.
The federation is based off the premise of living in a society that is peaceful and all about exploration and scientific advancement.
Section 31 is the CIA of the federation. It's the Kremlin. It's the 007 squad. The Tal Shiar. The obsidian order. The mission impossible crew.
You can't expect it to be your run-of-the-mill Star Trek and if that's what you went into this thinking it was going to be then, sorry you didn't understand the premise before you went in.
For what this movie is and what I was expecting it blew me away at how good it was.
I was at no point expecting to see the Enterprise or a federation crew. I was at no point expecting to see some sort of scientific discovery that needed to be solved. Therefore I wasn't let down.
What I was expecting to see because I knew that this had to do with Giorgio who is the previous emperor of the Taran empire was an action-packed sci-fi thriller based on the dirtier underground secret society of the federation.
There were several episodes of deep space nine which touched on what section 31 is. There were episodes showcasing what the Taran empire is in the original series, Enterprise, deep space nine and of course Discovery.
If you went into this expecting Giorgio to be Picard then you're a fool. If you went into this, expecting the crew of a section 31 ops team to be anything like the bridge crew of a federation starship then once again you are a fool.
You have to look at this movie for what it is and this is the Tom Cruise action-packed mission impossible 007 Star Trek themed movie.
Which on that front which is what we were promised. It hit every Mark and it nailed it.
I wish I could give this movie a thousand stars to counteract all the negative reviews that are coming from people who obviously didn't have a clue what they were going to go watch. I've read the reviews in the most common theme is this isn't my Star Trek. Well no, it's not your Star Trek it's something new and you know what. As a lifetime fan, I am glad they are bringing us new stuff.
Stop complaining when we get new content that doesn't fit the same boring narrative that you've wanted for the last 40 years because that will lead to us getting nothing.
I've said my piece. I love this movie! Thank you! Paramount please give us more of this.
