I'm sure if you haven't read the book that the movie could be good. However, being such a huge fan of the book, the movie just doesn't do it justice - it doesn't even come close. Hated the random added bits thrown in for drama (for example Pi's mom being a vegetarian and the cook not caring?). I really encourage everyone to read the book.
