Oh, where to start? How about this: what's the difference between an action flick and a slasher flick?
Action is told from the perspective of the killer and slashers are told from the perspective of the victims.
I like to think that this flip in perspective is dependent upon how interesting either side is, but in this movie, neither is interesting enough to fill a plot. In fact, the plot to this one seems to summed simply as "Michael Myers smashes people with whatever he has on hand because they're all too stupid to try avoiding him"
I'm not a fan of the slasher-horror genre, but this one was especially shallow, with 5-20 minutes of moving the spotlight to a new set of victims then plopping the increasingly incredulous Michael into their location and making lots of red happen. The main characters were not developed enough to care if they died, and the killer not developed enough to think what he's doing is significant. It's basically a car crash of a story where I actually care more about the road it happened on instead of the drivers, passengers, or cars.
