This book was assigned by my book club. I could not get past the first 25 pages, owing to the sheer absurdity of the basic premise. Wooden boxes flying around the world and landing at your front door? Of everyone in the whole, entire world? And the boxes contain strings of various lengths which predict the length of your life? Sorry, that is how fourteen year-olds think and fantasize, very silly. And boring. But then, I really don’t care for fantasy or read it, so take this with a grain of salt if that is a genre you enjoy.
