I recommend for indie film fans, fans of relationship films, and for ages 25+ (Not to say it couldn’t be enjoyed by a wider audience). It’s a very real look at real and large relationship demographic, and the human condition of them, flaws especially, but also understanding and acceptance.
I honestly think this is a pertinent film. It’s quite hilarious until ~1/2 way through and truly touches upon REAL LIFE RELATIONSHIPS in the cyber age, specifically the pressure to compare one’s self to others and the slight disconnect to the outside world. The film takes a drastic ,though seamless, shift in mood whilst keeping the atmosphere and tone constant, which is nice. There are very well done and quite original metaphors in the film that are clever and therefore simple enough as to not confuse, but adds whimsy and relays the specific emotions very appropriately.
This movie also relies pretty much entirely on dialogue and acting, since the film itself has a pretty mundane story that is common, but nevertheless relevant and timeless. Regardless, that’s kind of the point and also the brilliance of it,because it makes it takes a bunch of common themes and a typical story and disposes of the mundane.
It has an air of magic and nostalgia, plus it’s incredibly relatable. Fantastic acting and writing!
A little reminiscent of The Science of Sleep for some reason, I dn if anyone felt that way, because there really aren’t any parallels at all, lol!
Also love the little kinda nod at Schrödinger
