Title: Deeply Disappointed – A Huge Step Back for the Series
First off, I just want to say I’m a huge fan of Little Nightmares. The first game was a classic, and the second one was spontaneous, creative, and full of surprises. The story was longer, the twist at the end was mind-blowing, and the creepy bosses were unforgettable. Because of that, my expectations for Little Nightmares 3 were extremely high. Unfortunately, I’m very disappointed to be giving this a one-star review, but I feel the developers need to hear our frustration.
To start, this game severely hurts the reputation built by the first two entries. The creativity that made the series so special feels completely gone here. Little Nightmares 3 lacks originality, it feels like the developers just recycled ideas from the previous games, from the blind doctors to the oversized carnival characters.
The story was also shockingly short. My fiancé and I took our time and still finished it in only two days. Considering how long this game was delayed, that’s unacceptable. What’s even worse is that it takes up 11 GB of storage the largest of the three games yet offers the shortest, and least developed story. Something about that doesn’t make sense.
The new co-op feature could have been incredible, but the lack of local (couch) co-op was a huge mistake. On top of that, you barely get to use your abilities throughout the game, which makes them feel pointless.
And then there’s the story itself, it’s confusing and hard to follow. There’s only one boss fight at the very end, and the two new characters feel completely disconnected from the established world. The “friend” character seems randomly made up, which made the overall story even weaker.
Overall, Little Nightmares 3 is a major disappointment that fails to live up to the brilliance of its predecessors. I truly hope the developers listen to the community, make meaningful updates, and never repeat these mistakes in future titles.
