A barrage of character decisions and events that lack basic logic or motivations. Spoilers ahead. In the last 3 min of the show 3 things happened that are in direct conflict with each other: Uma Thurman's character realizes her son staged his own kidnaping; Her son is kidnaped (now for real) by Sean who is demanding money indented of the "The truth"; despite of all that she deciding to satisfy demands of the original fake kidnaping to "tell the truth". You can't have 3 events pertaining to the main subject of the story, so close to each other to be coincidental and disjointed without driving your audience mad with confusion. Undercover officer who developed a bond with central characters decided to withhold information about their innocence, thus betraying both his new friends and his job for no discernible reason. Evil assassin character, teases us with resemblance of character ark as he start developing a bond with some of the characters. only to have that character change to be simply abandoned leaving us to feel cheated and unsatisfied.

The ludicrous parody plot devices, silly and incredibly dark humor don't mix well with Kristen Bell's attempt to quite seriously portray something as tragic as mother loosing a child. Add to all that Mystery whodunit, Almost Christopher Nolanesk (dead serious) reality-bender, also dead serious soap opera-like sappy-feel-good moments -- and you get indigestible cacophony of tones and genres. Yes it is possible to combine silly and tragic but it usually requires some compartmentalization within the story. For example I can't buy central character's tragic background if the cause of her daughter's death is a comedy device as absurd and implausible as FBIs "take your doughtier to work day to meet a cannibal serial killer"
