Old school horror - definitely not one for the little ones. Brilliant prosthetics makeup and models, well acted by all, but ultimately a bit OTT for me. Not a waste of time, but close.

Beautifully set with powerful evocation of the Orkneys . I had enjoyed the book, though my memory of it is scanty. I don't know how much I'd have enjoyed it if I didn't know and love Orkney. Lacks a strong storyline, made up for by great performance by Ronan.

At times hard to watch, with stunning performances as Brian Wilson old (John Cusack) and young (Paul Dano), and a scary Gene Landy. Great music of course from Wison/Beach Boys, and brilliant reproduction of studio sessions. You just long for a happy ending for Brian with the lovely Elizabeth Banks. Outstanding biopic.
