I watched Aladdin with my family this morning and I have to admit, I loved the film. I was very skeptical, but it lived up to the animated film of the ‘90’s in every way, I thought. I’m not really a huge fan of Will Smith; but, Will Smith was a terrific genie. I could watch his performance all day. He was able to add his own comedy in seamlessly and did justice to the role with huge shoes to fill. The other actors were... well, perfect! Disney was able to preserve the memorable musical numbers and scenes of the original in live-action (which was the only way to go in my opinion, the original is a gem). From the Arabian nights intro, to the street rat scenes and number, cave of wonders and Genies’ famous number, prince Ali entrance. All of it fantastic. What a fun film to watch.
