i hope going forward there’s more of an accountability on storytelling other people’s cultures as these movies are not solely entertaining, but somewhat leading and “educating” on what a culture looks like. as a puerto rican, fit the narrative to be about a reckless boy and then add how people move here because “everything is free in america” which is not A) true and B) is not why we move here. I loved when she said i’m not American, I’m puerto rican because it’s true. we’re not here for you, we’re here to survive.
