Joker 2019 is so much better than the original one because instead of him being chucked into a barrel of something he is put into society and he witnesses everyone betraying him which shows that in life you can't trust most people even the person you idolise (in this film his idol is Murray). He shows people what they put him through and what they deserve which grows him a massive fan base which at the start is what he wanted, to be recognized instead of being ignored and trodden all over. I felt sympathy for the joker all throughout the film especially when he found out he was adopted. He quotes "put on a happy face" a lot in this film. Little did he know that the person who said that originally, betrayed him.
Joker in films like "The Suicide Squad" I feel is a confusing and mysterious character. I watched this film a few months after watching "Suicide Squad" and it makes you see two different sides of the Joker. In this 2019 film it's really putting Joker out into the real world. He tries to make people laugh and smile and the people in this society just make fun of/ bully him for it. He gets fired from his job, nearly gets arrested, idol makes fun of him on live TV. The one thing I love about this is after all of that he isn't giving up . He's seen everything what goes on and he's sick of it. You can't really blame the joker for that.
And the fact that Auther (JOKER) responded to his therapist after asking if he kept up with his journal "Yes Ma'am". It shows he is a respectful person at heart, but it was the society, environment, abuse and his condition that ultimately led him to become the Joker. I've never sympathised a villan as much as Joker.
Overall, I would rate it a definite 5/5 stars and if I could go above I would. I would say this film is suitable for a mature 14 year old and above. It's a beautiful and deep film of dark reality. That's the sentence I would fit into this film.
