I highly adore this show. This is basically a modernized Macross for today's anime viewer. Even after 12 years, it still hold firmly and still can stand the test of time. You can be an old timer who watched Macross in the 80's or newer generation who watched Naruto and Bleach as first anime and still enjoy this one. Macross Frontier did the impossible of being a sequel and a standalone at the same time. My favorite part? The songs. Yoko Kanno seems so enjoying making songs for this series she kept making new one for this series in 2015.

If Clone Wars is my childhood favorite series, I think Mando is my adulthood favorite series.

Love it so much. This is basically "what if Toho had the Hollywood money to make Godzilla". The action is on point. The pace is on light running speed just to introduce the audience with the kaiju and only slows down sometimes to check how's the human characters are. After all that, it goes full speed ahead and clash Godzilla with his archenemy, Ghidorah, not once, but three times, resulting in spectacular giant monster showdown. Don't listen to those critics saying this movie plot is bland. Of course it is! The plot only served to make the movie move forward to the action scenes. And the people behind it are actually cares about this 60 years old franchise. From design to music, everything looks great. Even the action doesn't use human eye perspective, meaning we don't them fighting from below, but same level as those monsters head. You will see some clarity who and how they are fighting. I recommend this for anyone who just want to see action movie with beautifully rendered monsters.

I never watched the original, but I watched this yesterday, So I can't speak this movie as a sequel, but a standalone movie. The plot is rather bland, and sometimes outright weird. Characters are okay-ish, but some are wasted, like that lamp post guy and the wolf, and the weird gypsy cousin, and that black accountant guy. Songs and performance are great. I like "Trip A Little Light Fantastic" and "A Cover Is Not the Book" most. Visual and CGI is great (duh!) But I think I had fun watching this movie like I watched Coco last year. This is a movie that shouldn't be taken seriously. Just sit back, grab a popcorn, and relax because magical things will happen like when you lick that LSD strip.
