Slim plot device stretched too long. Rarely funny, never charming, frequently didactic. Hellbent on smashing stereotypes of homosexuals, it presents them as football players,boxers, and, if the message still isn’t clear, asserts that disapproval is evidence of insecurity with ones own heterosexuality. And it calls them “gay” in a film set in the ‘30s, when the term had not yet been appropriated to mean homosexuals.
