A great looking, garbage-written show that I will obviously continue watching. Michael Burnham is the definitive "Mary-Sue" character in all Trek, an achievement in itself -- somehow always present, somehow always triumphant, yet never fully imperiled or having believable contribution, regardless of the circumstances.
Given her talent Sonequa Martin-Green deserves much better material, as do the fans. Without Doug Jones' excellent Saru, a few cameos, or the clearly superior characters introduced in the season 2 crossover with Captain Pike, I'd probably tap out.
