I found this true story very interesting. Learning I am part jewish when my mother died, I could never have accepted a religion that considered women lower cast than men, that the female’s primary purpose is to have babies; that higher education is not promoted for women; and such extreme modesty is mandatory. Perhaps this represented a small percentage why my mother didn’t acknowledge being jewish…
but the bigger reason was probably the fact she married a German in 1938!
