How is it possible that this is such a critically acclaimed film, regarded as one of the best of all time. It is full of plot holes. Its pacing is atrocious - extremely unfocused. 90% of the characters make things without any hint of what and why they will do. Characters appear and die in the next scene and the audience is supposed to be engaged. Characters with zero development betray the main protagonist. We see a lack of any substantial buildup to indicate character actions. Cinematography is terrible - mostly the lighting I mean - watching this on a modern screen I do not see anything in the dark interior shots, and people who say its shady for shady business are cringe. It hardly is in the top 10 mafia movies in my opinion. It was not ahead of its time in terms of anything - even the Mafia topic. So many films before 1972 have far better settings, plots, characters, events or lessons. The only thing I cannot speak bad about is the iconic soundtrack. Goosebumps every single time I hear it, the personification of mafia spirit and vibe.
