Whatever you do, do NOT listen to the negative reviews of the critics from Rolling Stone, etc. One of their biggest complaints is that this Nurse Ratched character strays too far from and is contradictory to the Nurse Ratched in One Flew Over the Cukoo's Nest, and that the show as a whole doesn't make sense. How they came to that conclusion is beyond me. This is an origin story (did these critics forget that part??) that begins to set the stage for how Mildred Ratched turned into the cold and callous Nurse Ratched that we already know. Sarah Paulson is divine (as always) and the energy she and Finn Wittrock have after working together for so long gives them the ability to pull the viewer into their relationship and helps you really understand why they do the things they do. And Ryan Murphy does a fantastic job with the series as a whole, despite all of the harsh criticism. If you like American Horror Story (on Wednesdays we wear black) you're really going to like Ratched.
