As a non-Chinese viewer I felt It was a beautiful movie but I thought it ended a bit oddly. The story was a bit vague in the beginning as well. Had I had a better knowledge of Chinese history it may have improved my view of the story. Acting was excellent and the sense of honor portrayed was impressive. I recommend reading a bit about Chinese banking and the boxer rebellion prior to watching to get the full effect the movie was meant to portray.
