This is movie is based on the novel by Nikos Kazantzakis. The good parts about this movie, it's well produced, shot well, has some good scenes and a great soundtrack. The bad, overall this particular take on Jesus Christ I just couldn't get with. In some scenes, it appeared like Martin Scorsese was on an acid trip. As a great of a director as he is, I don't think this type of movie is really his strength. Willem Dafoe received a lot of praise for his performances as Jesus, but he just didn't fit for me. Harvey Keitel wasn't exactly the best as Judas either. I'm a believer and a Christian. I don't think this movie should be banned all over the world, because I think people need to make their own conclusions about what is or isn't good. I do, however, have to stress this movie isn't based on the Bible. The movie lets you know that in the beginning.
