I'm a Callas fan but some things in this movie are Hollywood fiction. Maria never allowed her mother to prostitute her. She would only sing for money. Don't expect to learn about the opera legend Callas by watching this movie cos you'll fall asleep as if you were at the Opera. There are way better documentaries on YouTube than this esoteric, shallow and fictional account of Callas. But Angelina was great. She proved she can play any character. But you don't end up actually liking her character Callas cos there's absolutely no depth to this movie. It reminded me of a beautifully shot Netflix documentary but without the narrators that were much needed for this movie to give you real context of who Maria Callas really was. I watched the whole thing because I was curious but I was left feeling like I wasted my time. This movie is master class on acting, sets, frame shots and lighting and how to write a really shallow fictional screenplay on purpose.
