Absolutely atrocious version. Totally untrue to the period.
Men and women were never alone together before marriage. Nor did they write letters to each other. And they certainly NEVER went into each other's bedrooms, even if sick.
Grown women never went out with their hair down. Nor did men or women go outdoors bareheaded, or without gloves for that matter. Or half undressed.
Women did not wear hats nor did men wear riding boots inside.
The Bennets lived in a manor house, no pigs inside.
Evening dresses were not sleeveless with shoestring straps.
Dances were not galloping romps.
Children did not correct their parents in public, nor did they raise their voices to them.
Seatings at dinner were alternately men and women, never two of the same sex seated together unless unavoidable.
Men did not have long hair, especially military men.
Women did not lick their fingers at the table or chew their nails while reading.books.
Keira Knightley giggled or tittered after every sentence. Her mouth was always hanging open as if she mouth breathed and her tongue was always sticking out between her teeth.
It was awful!
